Co-Curricular Activities at Singapore International School (Indonesia)
Introduction
Co-curricular Activities (CCAs) at SIS BV play a significant role in the holistic development of our children. They have been an integral part of the school curriculum and complement the formal education by helping in holistic development of the child as a whole. CCAs inculcate sound moral values in our students. They build strength of character and foster camaraderie in them. They cultivate healthy habits and instill aesthetic and cultural appreciation in our students.
In drawing up the CCA programme in the school, it is important to provide a wide range of activities to cater different ability levels and aptitudes. CCAs offer students opportunities to develop life long interests outside the class rooms. The CCA framework is designed in order to help schools to organize broad and diverse CCA program.
At SIS BV, a wide range of CCAs are provided in all three divisions which are age appropriate and important to ensure holistic development of the children. Please see the list of CCAs offered in the following three divisions of the school and the rational behind.
Pre-School CCAs
Co-curricular activities form the core of students’ life at Singapore International School since it helps to develop the all-round personality of the students to face daunting tasks and turbulent world of future. The aim of Co- curricular activities is to make the students fit for the future time and to develop a sense of competitive spirit, co-operation, leadership, diligence, punctuality, team-spirit as well as to provide a backdrop for the development of their creative talents. Therefore all the students have to choose at least one CCA when they are in primary and secondary school but CCAs are not compulsory for all students in the Pre-school Division but for the K2 children we strongly advise them to take up one. We do not offer CCAs for children below the ages of four…

Our Co- curricular activities are designed to promote and inculcate academic, physical, environmental and creative intelligence amongst our students that will prepare them for the challenges of our dynamic world. Therefore, it is compulsory for each pupil to have at least 1 CCA per semester.

Secondary School CCAs
The term CCA refers to Co Curricular Activities at SIS – Bona Vista. The CCAs are designed to provide students with opportunities to explore skills that are not in the core curriculum. CCAs support and enhance the learning environment. It is a mandatory programme and all students are expected to participate in at least one activity. It is possible to participate in two but this is dependent upon academic performance. CCAs are regarded as an integral part of an holistic programme which SIS encourages and supports.
CCA activities are in two categories; internal and external.
Internal activities are run by SIS staff members on school premises using school facilities. Sometimes, external assistance is provided by interested parents with specialized expertise.
External CCAs refer to activities provided by outside personnel CCA not possible within the school grounds and facilities. These include Golf, Horse Riding and Tennis. Fees for these are more expensive than the standard fee described in the fee schedules in the prospectus.
These CCAs in the Secondary Department are held three days per week, leaving one day for staff meetings and the other for remedial classes.
Based upon Semester two 2009 schedule, the following activities are available:
